Monday, June 10, 2024 – ATLUS took center stage during the Summer Game Fest, captivating audiences with two groundbreaking announcements for the highly anticipated Metaphor: ReFantazio. Last weekend, fans were treated to the unveiling of the mesmerizing “AWAKEN” trailer, offering a tantalizing glimpse into the game’s immersive universe. Additionally, an exclusive livestream, guided by Director Katsura Hashino, provided an insightful exploration of the game’s mechanics and Archetypes, setting the stage for its much-anticipated release on October 11, 2024, across Xbox Series X|S, Windows, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Steam platforms.
Physical and digital pre-orders for Metaphor: ReFantazio are now officially open
The “AWAKEN” trailer was presented on stage by the game’s Director, Katsura Hashino (known for Persona 3, 4, and 5), alongside Art Designer Shigenori Soejima (also recognized for Persona 3, 4, and 5).

During the weekend, ATLUS hosted a new livestream by Director Katsura Hashino, exploring the game’s rich systems with a focus on Archetypes – the special character powers that awaken in various ways, offering players many options for customizing their party.
During the stream, Hashino-san explained how Archetypes branch and evolve throughout the player’s journey, describing the 14 basic Archetype lineages and when the variations of each Archetype are added up, there are more than 40 Archetypes available in total.
Hashino-san also offered insights on the team’s design goals and how they are reflected in the way Archetypes interact with the rest of the game. Metaphor: ReFantazio’s dungeons encourage players to think creatively and strategically about which Archetypes they use and how they use them.
