    Although dozens of new series are broadcast every quarter on Crunchyroll, more or less recent classics are also added regularly. Here’s a review of the latest titles available now on the platform.

     

    Girls Band Cry

    2024 (13 episodes) – An original anime from Toei Animation

    Feeling out of place in the countryside, high school dropout Nina Iseri moves to Tokyo. After a rough first day and getting locked out of her apartment, she meets her favorite guitarist, Momoka Kawaragi. The two put on a street performance together and decide to start a band with three other girls. While each girl faces her own struggles, their passion for music keeps their dreams alive.

     

    Natsume’s Book of Friends Season 1 to 4

    2008~2012 (52 episodes) – Produced by Brain’s Base and based on a manga from Yuki Midorikawa – Season 5 & 6 are coming soon. 

    Takashi Natsume has been able to see youkai, Japanese monsters, his whole life. He inherited a book of youkai names from his grandmother, Reiko. These names give their owner power over the youkai, so he and his self-proclaimed bodyguard “Nyanko-sensei” spend their days returning them to their original owners. As Natsume finally finds a place where he feels welcome, he meets and says goodbye to new Youkai….

     

    Gridman Universe

    2023 (Movie) – Produced by Studio TRIGGER and based on Gridman Universe, a live-action tokusatsu series created by Tsuburaya Productions

    Yuta Hibiki finds himself drawing Gridman, who he seems to have missing memories of. Now in his second year at Tsutsujidai High School, Yuta decides it’s time to confess his feelings for Rikka. But their peaceful days would come to a end as Gridman suddenly returns with a warning: “The balance of this world is collapsing.”

    2021 (Movie) – A sequel of the boy’s love TV series

    As leading men Junta Azumaya and Takato Saijo prepare for their upcoming show together filled with flamenco dancing, Takato soon feels a gap in their skill. Azumaya’s emotion, intensity, and flair leaves Takato in awe, so he decides to travel to Azumaya’s home country of Spain to learn this passion. Meanwhile, Azumaya is still reeling from Takato’s one-sided farewell in the past.
