    CRUNCHYROLL ANNOUNCES THE ACQUISITION OF KAZUKI MINAMOTO’S MANGA TITLES

    Berlin, Germany, November 4Crunchyroll is proud to welcome the author Kazuki Minamoto to its manga catalog. Openly gay and LGBTQ+ activist, he’s an exceptional artist whose work enriches the industry with empathetic stories from a queer perspective. Debuting in 2008, Kazuki Minamoto has published Manga in a range of genres and is most well known for Kaiju ni Natta Gay (The Gay Who Turned Kaiju), which has been recognised at the Japan Media Arts Festival’s 25th Manga Division and recommended by fellow Mangaka Gengoroh Tagame, as well as Kabesa Doujin Sakka no Nekoyashiki-kun wa Shonin Yokkyu wo Kojirasete Iru (Kabe-Koji-Nekoyashiki-kun Desires to be Recognized), which has received a live-action adaptation from Asahi Broadcasting Corporation in 2022 that is available internationally on Rakuten TV.  He also publishes short stories/essays based on his and his boyfriends personal experiences and hosts a podcast about the everyday adventures of a Mangaka.  

    In 2025, Crunchyroll will publish in German two first titles. In June, My Groom Is … Not You! (Ore no Hanamuko wa Omae Janai) is a story of self-discovery of a homosexual protagonist  coming to terms with his identity. Followed in August by  Doujinshi Desires (Kabe Circle Doujin Sakka no Nekoyashiki-kun wa Shounin Yokkyuu wo Kojiraseteiru), which is primarily aimed at a queer and allied target audience and also offers insight into the Japanese Doujinshi-Scene. .     The publication of two more of Kazuki Minamoto’s works – Kaiju ni Natta Gay and Märchen Kachou to Nonke Kouhai-kun –  is planned for the following fall programme. 

     

    My Groom Is … Not You!

    Wataru is an outstanding employee who does not openly live out his preferences. Nobody knows that he is gay and so he goes from one-night stand to one-night stand without his life moving forward. On the outside, he is a heterosexual man with excellent chances on the job and love market, but on the inside, things are very different. Now he finally wants to take the next step: But instead of having his coming out, he goes the opposite way and plans to get engaged in an arranged marriage with a woman. What could possibly go wrong? A lot. Because when he meets the brother of his future wife, his plan starts to unravel spectacularly.
