Brazilian development duo JoyMasher has been creating games for the better part of the last decade, garnering a cult-like following among its fans for producing high quality indie titles. In the latest developer diary released by publisher The Arcade Crew for JoyMasher’s upcoming arcade shooter Blazing Chrome (PC, Switch, PlayStation 4), the video reveals that the long road of development isn’t all paved with roses.
JoyMasher is on the cusp of releasing its third and highest profile game to date, Blazing Chrome, a side-scrolling action homage to gaming classics like Contra and Metal Slug. In today’s latest no-holds-barred behind the scenes video from publisher The Arcade Crew, Danilo Dias discusses his biggest hurdles in game development: other people. Dias also goes on to speak about criticisms and questions the couple have faced – including topics like creating games from their country’s own rich folklore – a pressure unique to developers outside the United States.
Blazing Chrome hits PC, PS4 and Switch early next year. A visually gripping throwback to the golden days of side-scrolling shooters, Blazing Chrome invites players to tear through a variety of distinct stages filled with deadly, bullet-spewing AI as Mavra, a lone human resistance fighter, or the rebellious robotic insurgent Doyle.
Fashion aficionados can also get a headstart on repping humanity’s salvation by donning a special Blazing Chrome-themed t-shirt in the upcoming Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes for Nintendo Switch.
