With more than 20 years’ experience in the games industry and an enviable list of credits, the team at UK-based Engine Room Games has made a huge difference to Unity’s PlayStation deployment. Today Unity revealed that Engine Room Games have now joined Unity on a permanent basis.
In July 2011, Unity released a build option for PlayStation 3 to its development community and shortly after the first PlayStation title to be made with Unity – Rochard was released. Led by Engine Room Games, Unity’s PlayStation development has continued with PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and PlayStation VR support.
In 2014, Unity announced a partnership with Sony Computer Entertainment, to provide Unity Pro available free of charge to certified PlayStation developers. Unity has become a hugely popular development environment for PlayStation developers, resulting in hundreds of games in development and being released, including Bafta winner Never Alone, the hilarious Stick It To The Man and Just Add Water’s fantastic reboot of Oddworld.
