Wooga and InnoGames are pleased to announce the sale and transfer of mobile strategy title Warlords from Wooga to the Hamburg-based online games provider, InnoGames. Going forward, a team at InnoGames will continue development and enrich the game with their strong knowledge of the strategy genre. No employees will change company as part of the agreement.
The deal reflects Wooga’s 2016 decision to double down and focus on casual mobile genres, while for InnoGames the acquisition of Warlords represents an addition to an already strong strategy game portfolio and the focus on mobile-only titles in the future.
“Warlords was very well received by players and press at launch and the team at Wooga is happy to see the game continue under the stewardship of InnoGames. The agreement also further reflects Wooga’s commitment and focus on producing the very best casual mobile experiences,” said Jens Begemann, Wooga Founder & CEO.
Armin Busen, CPO at InnoGames: “Warlords is a fantastic game with an enthusiastic fan base and we’re more than happy to get the chance to acquire it. The game represents a very good fit to our overall games portfolio and is another important step in our transition to mobile. Our dedicated team will make sure to add new features and improve the general game experience, so Warlords fans can look forward to the relaunch of the game.”
Existing Warlords accounts won’t be affected by the transfer nor will they lose any game progression
