SHIBATARIAN © 2023 by Katsuya Iwamuro/SHUEISHA Inc.
Berlin, Deutschland, 5. February 2025 – Shibatarian comes across like a great horror classic, but is an exciting new work by mangaka Katsuya Iwamuro. The trained horror fan will have no trouble spotting allusions from Children of Wrath, Sixth Sense or Stephen King’s Misery, which are skillfully interwoven with Japanese horror stories. A work that will stay with you for a long time…
Released on bookstores on 7. February, the first volume of Shibatarian is also available as a limited edition including a creepy lenticular card and a variant cover.
Synopsis
When Hajime Sato walks up a hill one evening, he finds Shibata buried up to his neck under a cherry blossom tree. Naturally, he helps Shibata out of his misery and from then on they watch movies together. But the more time passes, the clearer it becomes that something is wrong with his new friend. Suddenly, Shibata simply disappears, only to complete something years later that the two of them had imagined on a cozy, creepy evening …
